Training Philosophy
Brent’s philosophy is simple: dogs should want to work with their handler, not feel forced to. He avoids heavy-handed corrections and conflict-based methods, instead fostering cooperation, respect, and motivation. By creating a low-pressure environment built on trust, he ensures both dogs and handlers can thrive as a team.
Inspiration
Brent’s journey into dog training began with his first German Shepherd, Shadow, who sparked his passion for handling and working with dogs. That passion grew when he received his first K9, Rock, through a specialised training program in explosive detection and patrol work. From there, Brent’s dedication to honing his skills only deepened, leading him to further professional experience with advanced K9 teams. Each step strengthened his commitment to training and solidified his career path in the field.
Professional Experience
With over 7 years of professional experience in both working K9 and pet training, Brent has developed expertise in explosive and narcotics detection, patrol, obedience, and tracking. His time as a professional K9 handler gave him extensive hands-on knowledge of high-pressure working environments, which he now applies to companion dog training and behaviour modification.
Training Focus
Brent is especially drawn to the most challenging cases, including aggressive and reactive dogs. His passion for rehabilitation extends beyond training—he hopes to one day open a rescue café for working dogs, giving troubled or retired dogs a second chance at meaningful lives.
